Ernst Conservation Seeds Offers Resources to Assist Outdoor Journalists

Meadville, PA — June 12, 2015 — Ernst Conservation Seeds offers various ways to assist outdoor journalists on-assignment or in need of information, photographs, interviews and other resources relative to the establishment of native plants from seed.

As part of Ernst’s support of the Outdoor Writers Association of America’s Annual Conference in Knoxville, TN, the following resources are available online, by email and in a unique folder in the conference’s Digital Literature Room.

  • A recently redesigned website is packed with helpful features. Visitors can learn all about the rich 50-plus-year history of the company and research specific native plant species and best management practices for establishment. An all-new media portal offers links to press releases, blog posts, recent media clippings, live news feeds with stories featuring Ernst Seeds or articles of general relevance to native seeds and a social media hub with live feeds from the Company’s social media properties.
  • The latest catalog serves as more than a product listing –it’s widely regarded as a field guide and establishment resource for native plants. A PDF of the catalog is included in the Ernst Seeds folder in the Digital Literature Room, and can be downloaded from the company’s website, www.ernstseed.com.
  • Ernst Seeds has an extensive library of native plant identification images and photos of established and in-progress native seed plantings under a wide range of application scenarios.
  • Ernst Seeds prides itself on being personally accessible to the media. The company’s horticulturist, plant materials specialist, agronomist, customer service representatives and media contacts can provide you the information needed, or help you find experts beyond its walls to assist journalists in completing assignments.

“We enjoy working with members of the outdoor press on stories relative to the native seed industry, current practices and trends in the use of native species and the successful establishment of natives,” says Randy Ferguson, Director of Communications. “Sometimes it’s a challenge to find good information, images and contacts for quotes. We have the resources available and a passion for helping journalists produce the best possible story.”

Ferguson continues, “As a proud supporting member of OWAA and first-time attendee to the annual conference in Knoxville, I look forward to making new acquaintances and cultivating long-lasting relationships with OWAA members.”
