$520.00 /lb

Coreopsis verticillata (Whorled Tickseed), also known as Threadleaf Coreopsis, is an erect-growing, rhizomatous, long-lived native that typically grows to 2.8 ft. The bloom window for Whorled Tickseed is among the longest of our native wildflowers, with yellow flowers present from late spring through summer. The flowers of Coreopsis verticillata attract butterflies and a variety of native bees. In a flower garden, we have observed Whorled Tickseed populations persist for more than 20 years. Coreopsis verticillata grows in partial shade to full sun in mesic to dry soils of barrens, clearings, road banks, dry open forests, and woodlands. Whorled Tickseed may be found from Maryland and West Virginia to Georgia. Coreopsis verticillata can be used in pollinator-friendly upland and partial shade meadow mixes. Short stature makes Whorled Tickseed appropriate for residential and campus meadows. Coreopsis verticillata is a member of the aster (Asteraceae) family. The genus name Coreopsis is derived from the Greek words koris, meaning bug, and opsis, meaning like, in reference to the seed resembling the shape of a bug or tick. The species name verticillata refers to the whorled leaf arrangement.
