An upland variety selected from 'Cave-In-Rock', 'Shawnee' provides improved disease resistance, livestock palatability, forage production, biomass, and overall production. 'Shawnee' is well suited to the Northeast and more humid eastern states. Very similar to 'Cave-In-Rock' in height, maturity, and winter hardiness, and provides a higher nutritional value than 'Blackwell'. Good winter snow standability.
